 The Rushburn Toffee StoryFor almost twenty-five years this toffee has been offered only to family and friends. In the 1970's my grandmother (Betty Burns) developed a nostalgic craving for the toffee she had loved as a child. After a long and fruitless search she could find none comparable, so she decided to try and make it herself. She compared many recipes and experimented with different processes until she developed what my family came to know as "The Toffee Recipe". She made it only once a year and gave it as Christmas gifts to friends, some of whom hid it from their spouses. She gave the recipe to no one, not even her two daughters.
